EDIT: I entered this piece in a contest by The Endless Club [link] Please vote for it if you think it's good Thanks!
I FINALLY finished coloring this piece of mine! And I'm damn proud of it, too (not that it means I do not allow any constructive criticism to come my way).
This is Death, one of my favorite characters from the "The Sandman" series by Neil Gaiman. I'm thinking of making a series of artwork like this featuring the rest of the Endless siblings like Dream, Delirium, Desire, etc. All in all, there are seven siblings so I guess I got alot of work ahead of me Anyway, I hand-drew her (click [link] to see the lineart) and colored the entire thing on Adobe Photoshop. I like the background, it turned out exactly the way I wanted it to. I used the paintbrush tool as well as the motion blur filter to create its effect.
The text you see on the upper-left of the image is a death poem by Kozan Ichikyo. Believe it or not, it was composed on the morning of his death, and he died sitting upright. Composing poems at the moment of death is a Japanese tradition practiced by samurai and Zen monks. For more poems such as these, click the following [link]
